Tasting: Volcano Coffee


Blue Strawberry and Table Talk owner Molly and Ops Director Simon had a fascinating visit and tasting with a local coffee supplier, at their roastery in Brixton this morning, with the view to supplying what they believe to be the best coffee around – and it couldn’t be more local!

Volcano Coffee Works was founded in 2010 by master-roaster, Kurt. Volcano only roast in small batches, which brings out the individual qualities of each of Volcano’s range of coffee. Their coffee is a rich, complex, seasonal product with an amazing range of tastes. Molly and Simon were taught how to ‘slurp’ coffee from a spoon to properly taste! Not as easy as it sounds!

However, Volcano is about so much more than that. Coffee is grown all around the world, often by small farmers living on the edge. They are committed to working with these farmers and their coffee-growing communities to increase the quality and hence the value of their product. At the same time, they only work with partners and importers who actively engage in promoting sustainability and community-based improvements.

It takes many more hands to produce small batch, speciality coffee, than it does to turn out commodity coffee, but they wouldn’t have it any other way. Blue Strawberry – Table Talk look forward to introducing Volcano Coffee new blend of coffee to all our clients.
