Whitechapel Gallery

Neighbouring the City and Shoreditch, next to Aldgate East tube station, the Whitechapel Gallery is an ideal venue for private and corporate events alike.

The Gallery houses 3,600 square metres of sleek, versatile spaces – from airy studios and brick-exposed Galleries to a purpose-built auditorium.

The Whitechapel Gallery is a registered charity and all venue hire income directly supports their Education and Community programmes.

Gallery 2 provides the opportunity to create events within the latest Whitechapel Gallery exhibition and is perfect for conferences (with its excellent AV facilities), large dinners and evening receptions. As the historic central reading room of the former Whitechapel Library, Gallery 2 retains its original Victorian features such as exposed brickwork, high ceilings and concrete floor.

Gallery 3 is a versatile space with two social sculptures by artist Liam Gillick, who has created a maze like mural on the ceiling and transcribed the wall-mounted mirror. Access to the space is via Gallery 1 or Gallery 2, so is well matched to a guided tour of one of our exhibitions. The Gallery is good for seminars, intimate dinners and drinks receptions.

The Clore Creative Studio is a bright and inspiring space, with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow light to flood into the room. It is a space that allows people to think and create, which enables it to work well for meetings and workshops. In the evening it is perfect for intimate dinners and drinks receptions.

Reception capacity – 400

Dinner capacity – 250
