National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

Located just off Trafalgar Square, the National Portrait Gallery hosts a collection of portraits of many of Britain’s most historically important and famous people, past and present. The gallery has a wonderful mix of classic and contemporary event spaces and houses some of London’s most exciting temporary portraiture exhibitions.

The Victorian Galleries on the first floor are comprised of a long, narrow and elegant space, which works well with one banqueting table for up to 100. The Weldon Galleries on the second floor work well for intimate dinners.

The upper floors have a classic, traditional and opulent feel. The entire space can be hired split across several rooms and is perfect for a standing reception for up to 200.

We would suggest cladding the gallery’s front desk to use as a feature bar rather than bringing in a separate one, thus making better use of the space available.

Our venue specialist, Francesca, suggests another way to make use of the front desk by turning it into a food station. An interactive food station with the chefs preparing the food in front of the guests adds an element of theatre to your event and is always a great talking point!

Reception capacity – 400

Dinner capacity – 230
