Banqueting House is part of the Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) group, an independent charity that manages the UK’s unoccupied royal palaces. We are one of very few caterers with a crown listing, meaning we are approved suppliers across all HRP venues.
Banqueting House is the only remaining component of the Palace of Whitehall in London. Commissioned by Charles I, the ceiling of the Banqueting House is a unique masterpiece and the only surviving in-situ ceiling painting by Sir Peter Paul Rubens.
We have had the pleasure of partnering with the Palace for several showcases over the years, most recently the first HRP wedding Showcase in September 2016.
Our venue specialist, Georgina, suggests making the main hall more intimate by splitting it in two, having the reception at one end and dinner at the other. Although it is not very common, a dinner in the Undercroft can also be exceptional. For events with larger numbers we would recommend hiring RUSI in addition to Banqueting House, this allow for increased back of house space or a green room for your entertainment.
Incorporating the incredible ceiling into the design of your event is always an enchanting touch. One way to do this is by using it’s colour palate; not just in your tableware but perhaps creating a pale watercolour background for your table plan board and continuing this theme through from invitations to place cards and canapé trays. Mirrored table tops are another great touch to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.
It is always a pleasure to work in such an iconic venue, especially because of the wonderful events team. Having worked together for years, the events we create are both seamless and truly memorable. Second to the team, we love the fact that it is possible to hire the venue from 1pm, allowing for a long set up to create something truly spectacular!
